Q3 Report Cards

Quarter 3 report cards were sent home from CHS on Tuesday, March 23. Report cards are due back signed by a parent/guardian to second period teachers no later than Friday, March 26.

Parents/guardians of seniors who have a senior that may be failing a graduation requirement course will be contacted very soon via mail and/or phone call. The counselors, teachers, and administrators are very concerned when a senior fails a graduation requirement this close to the end of the school year and the end of senior's high school career. Failing a graduation requirement will prevent the senior from graduating in May. Please be aware that this parental/guardian contact will be happening soon.

Quarter 3 Progress Reports

Due to the recent snow days, Quarter 3 Progress Reports (scheduled 02/09/10) have been delayed until Tuesday, February 16th.

Parents/guardians of CHS students are asked to sign the progress report and send back to second period teachers no later than Friday, February 19th.

Renaissance Ceremony has been postponed

Coffee County Central High School's Renaissance Ceremony has been postponed until Sunday, February 7. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the CHS gym.

Financial Aid Meeting 1/28/10 6PM

On Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.Coffee County Central High School will host it's annual Financial Aid Meeting for seniors and their families. Information regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be included. The FAFSA is the most important financial aid application for seniors to complete if they plan to continue their education at any post-secondary institution, including 2- and 4-year colleges as well as technical and vocational schools. The FAFSA serves as the application for both federal and state aid, including the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program.

Due to limited funding for the Tennessee Student Assistance Award, seniors are strongly encouraged to submit the FAFSA by February 15, 2010; applications processed by this date will receive priority.

* Students should visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to complete the online FAFSA. If a Web site requests credit card information or some other form of payment to complete the FAFSA then that Web site is not the official government (FREE) Web site.

* A personal identification number called a Federal Student Aid PIN can be used to electronically sign the FAFSA, drastically decreasing the application's processing time. To save time, students and parents should request PINs before students apply for aid. A Federal Student Aid Pin also may be used to sign other forms and to access student information. PINs must be requested online at http://www.pin.ed.gov/

* Steps to Federal Student Aid explains the FAFSA application and submission process in seven steps. Students can view this handout at http://www.studentaid.ed.gov/pubs

* The FAFSA on the Web Worksheet is a useful tool in preparing to complete the online FAFSA. The worksheet lists the FAFSA questions and provides boxes for students' (and parents') answers. The order of the questions on the worksheet follows that of FAFSA on the Web, which differs from the paper FAFSA. Students and parents can view and download the worksheet PDF at http://www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov/worksheet

Semester 1 Exam Schedule & Parent Permission Form

Attached is a PDF of the Semester 1 Exam schedule for next week with an early release permission slip printed on the bottom.

This form was sent home this past Monday and is due back signed to second period teachers no later than Friday, December 11 if you give your child permission to leave after the exams each day. Contact CHS if you need further information.

Yesterday, 11/17/09, Quarter 2 Progress Reports were sent home. These reports need to be signed/dated by a parent/guardian and returned to 2nd period teachers by Friday, November 20th.

The following information was printed on the back of the progress report:

November 20: Abbreviated Day Staff Development (Students dismissed at 12:50 PM)
November 20: Josten’s deliver class ring orders (Available in the main commons all four lunches)
November 20-22: Drama production of The Crucible (Friday 7PM, Saturday 5PM, Sunday 2PM)
November 23-27: Thanksgiving Break (No school)
December 4: Deadline for Senior Ads in Yearbook (931.723.8289 weekdays between 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM)
December 8-11: Fall Gateway Exams (Limited participation, students will be notifi ed if assigned to take these exams)
December 8: Band Christmas Concert (6:30 PM)
December 10: Chorus Christmas Concert (7:00 PM)
December 15-17: Semester Exams (Tuesday 1st & 2nd, Wednesday 3rd & 4th, Thursday 5th & 6th)

YEARBOOK ORDERING INFORMATION
The 2010 Raider Yearbook will be ordered and sold online this year! Ordering only takes minutes to complete. Basic yearbooks cost $56. Options such as namestamping, icons, clear covers, autograph sheets and the Year-in-Review are also available to customize the yearbook order. Online ordering is
available now through January 9, 2010. Online payment may be with a personal check or credit card. No partial payments are allowed and full payment will be due upon ordering. The ordering link is located on the CHS website at: http://www.coffeecountyschools.com/chs. If access to the internet is not available, order forms are available in the Yearbook Room 24 or any school office. Payment (cash or money order only) along with the completed order form will be accepted until November 30, 2009 in the yearbook room. After November 30th, ordering and making payments will only be available online until January 9, 2010.
If order and payment have not been completed by January 9, 2010, a limited amount of extra yearbooks will be available on Yearbook Day for $70 cash only, fi rst come fi rst serve.

PLAN & ASVAB Tuesday 11/10/09

On November 10th all Juniors will be taking the ASVAB and all Sophomores will be taking the PLAN test.

The State of Tennessee requires that all sophomores take the PLAN test during the 10th grade year. The PLAN is a pre-ACT that will give students helpful information on improving ACT prep and career possibilities. All sophomores at CHS will take the PLAN test on November 10th.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program will be given to all juniors on November 10th. The ASVAB is an interest inventory and skills assessment that will give juniors an idea about possible careers that are in line with interests and skills. All juniors are scheduled to take the ASVAB on November 10th.
